About The Opportunity
Your role as a Building Regulations Consultant is to lead a team that administers and coordinates a high volume of projects. The works relate to building regulations, BCA and Access assessment consultancy, litigation-compliant building defect reports, and; the upgrade of fire safety services within existing buildings. You will be expected to lead, assist and manage a large variety of Class 2 to 9 building projects under the direct guidance of EBS’s Directors.
The role will provide extensive exposure to a wide range of residential, commercial, and retail projects varying in size and complexity.
About You
- You are energetic, love working with people, and go above and beyond to find creative solutions to complex challenges.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience as a Building Regulations Consultant.
- Building & Construction tertiary qualifications.
- Knowledge and experience with Australian Standards, BCA, EP&A Act, Home Building Act, and other Regulations.
- An excellent eye for building inspections, identifying defects, and writing complex and detailed reports.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor a high-performing fast-growing team.
- Outstanding attention to detail, project management, organisational skills, ability to work autonomously, as well as meet deadlines.
- High computer literacy.
- Fluent in English with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
Responsibilities
- Perform BCA Access assessment and reporting, including carrying out inspections of Strata Buildings and other developments.
- Carrying out building defect inspections to identify non-compliances in accordance with the Home Building Act.
- Preparation of Building Defect Reports for residential strata complexes.
- Prepare and issue various inspection reports.
- Participation in building defect claims process including negotiation with contractors and developers, lawyers, barristers, insurance companies and assessors, the Office of Fair Trading, and other expert consultants.
- Provide advice to customers in a written and verbal consulting role.
- Prepare fee proposals and project documentation.
- Support developing project plans, scope, and specifications.
- Preparation of certification of building design and certification of installation certificates and preparing final fire safety certificates.
- Assist with Tender Process, including tender responses and requests for information.
- Appraisals and certification of “Essential Fire Safety Measures”.
- Supervision of defect rectification work.
- Have various streams of clients through different networks whilst maintaining EBS clients and markets.
- New construction services including inspections of buildings for BCA, Access, and Fire Compliance.
